As part of ‘On-The-Go’ initiative, Dubai Police and ENOC Group joined forces to improve electric vehicle knowledge among Dubai Police officials. AutoPro Academy, a vehicle service and maintenance subsidiary of ENOC Group and a centre for automotive education and excellence, concluded a two-day training programme for 22 Dubai Police officials on safety measures that must be followed when responding to electric and hybrid car accidents on the roads.
Recognising it as one of the few institutions in the region delivering specialised training and internationally accredited certification, Dubai Police selected the academy to equip their officials with the necessary knowledge and skills to safely handle electrical and hybrid vehicles involved in road accidents. This initiative aims to enhance safety among both officials and the general public.
Providing officials with the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills based on international standards and recommendations by car manufacturers when handling electrical and hybrid vehicles involved in road accidents, the training titled ‘IMI International Level 1 Award in Electrical / Hybrid Vehicles Awareness’ is critical for first responders. The programme also equips participants with the knowledge to safely handle affected or damaged high-voltage cars to reduce the risk of accidents.
His Excellency Saif Humaid Al Falasi, Group CEO, ENOC, said: “We are honoured to partner with Dubai Police to extend AutoPro Academy’s automotive training and internationally accredited certification programmes to their officials. At ENOC, we recognise the crucial role these programmes play in upskilling officials and providing them with the required knowledge to safely handle electrical and hybrid vehicles. We are committed to working closely with Dubai Police and other government entities to keep people on the road safe and reduce the risk of accidents.”
Successful completion of the training is mandatory to meet the requirements for obtaining the International Competence Certificate from the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI). Additionally, Dubai Police will organise other courses to fulfil their specific needs and enhance the range of services offered through the ‘On-The-Go’ initiative, which was introduced in collaboration with AutoPro. As part of the fifth phase of this initiative, emphasis will be placed on increasing awareness and promoting safety among first responders and the public.
Lieutenant Majid Al Kaabi, chairman of the 'On-The-Go' initiative stated: “Introducing a unique initiative in the UAE as part of the 'On-The-Go' drive, this training programme strives to promote awareness and enhance the safety standards among first responders. Its primary objective is to equip officials with the necessary skills to save lives and mitigate potential risks encountered during road accidents.”
The state-of-the-art academy provides practical and theoretical training to individuals and entities including the RTA, Dubai Police, Dubai Economic Department, and Sharjah Police. The AutoPro Academy is the sole academy in the UAE accredited by the IMI to issue internationally accredited competency certificates for electric vehicles and vehicle inspections.
