Emirates Gas a subsidiary of ENOC Group, has won the British Safety Council’s Sword of Honour Award, a prestigious honour awarded to the best performing international organisations for implementing best practices in health, safety and environmental management.
Emirates Gas was chosen following a rigorous assessment by an impartial adjudication panel for excellence in managing risks related to health and safety and to the environment, lost time injury and COVID-19 precautions.
Emirates Gas was among selected organisations from across the world, covering a broad range of industry sectors such as construction, education and training, energy generation, foods and beverages, leisure, logistics, manufacturing, retail and transport, to win the Sword of Honour Award.
His Excellency Saif Humaid Al Falasi, Group CEO, ENOC, said: “Winning the prestigious Sword of Honour from the British Safety Council is a true testament to our ability to uphold the highest standards in health, safety and environmental management protocols. We are proud of this achievement and will continue to collaborate with our partners to ensure that we all comply to stringent HSE standards to benefit the wider community.”
To compete for the Sword of Honour, an organisation must achieve a maximum of five stars in the British Safety Council’s health and safety and environmental management audit scheme, which was held between August 2019 – November 2020. British Safety Council 5 Star audit is a rigorous evaluation done at the site and based on a model specific to British Safety Council’s standards.
Lawrence Waterman, Chairman of the British Safety Council, said: “On behalf of the board of trustees and staff of the British Safety Council, I congratulate Emirates Gas on achieving the topmost standards of health, safety and environmental management. Accomplishing such distinction takes real commitment and professionalism. We are delighted to have supported you in your achievements in what has been an unprecedented year given the COVID pandemic.”
Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, added: “I congratulate Emirates Gas and its employees for their steadfast dedication to keeping their workplace safe and healthy and/or minimising risks to the environment from their organisations’ day-to-day activities. This year presented an additional and significant challenge in the form of COVID-19 and I pay tribute to Emirates Gas for its hard work and commitment through these challenging circumstances.
“All of the Sword and Globe winning organisations share a commitment and resolve to achieve the uppermost standards of health, safety and/or environmental management. We are delighted that they are partners in helping achieve our vision that no-one should be injured or made ill through their work.”
