  • ENOC opens service station in Al Barsha First to extend services to customers living in populated residential communities
  • The Group is on track with plans to build solar powered service stations across the UAE

Dubai, UAE; July 23, 2018: ENOC Group has recently opened a new service station in Al Barsha, a densely populated area in Dubai – as part of its expansion plans aimed at building 54 new service stations by 2020.

His Excellency Saif Humaid Al Falasi, Group CEO, ENOC, said: “The new service station in Al Barsha underlines our commitment to offer customers fuel services in key residential communities, by providing ease of access to fuel and other retail services, and expanding our reach across Dubai and the UAE. The new station will provide relief for customers and ease congestion at our nearby service stations.”

The new 40,002 sqft. solar powered service station offers a range of automotive services such as the tandem 8 bridge canopy - eight digital dispensers with stage two vapour recovery system, DEWA electric car charging facilities, digital displays and smart metering.

Built in compliance with the new Dubai Municipality’s Green Build regulations, the excess power generated from the solar PV panels is transmitted back to DEWA’s main grid with a solar metre designed to track the power injected back to power grid.

The Photo-Voltaic (PV) solar panels installed on the canopy roof can generate 120kWh (Kilowatt per hour) energy on an ideal day – making approximately 30 per cent more than the average energy required to run the station. Built with UL Certified double wall tanks and double wall fuel piping with secondary containment, it avoids any environmental contamination. The service station is also equipped with a fully automated fuel system with Auto Tank gauging and electronic leak detection system.

The fuel system is built to cater to maximum flow rate as per National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) safety standards. The dispensers, built with retractable hoses, enable refuelling cars from both sides reducing the wait time.

Equipped with several energy saving technologies, the station deploys Vapor Recovery Systems (VRS) to prevent and control emissions, while full LED lights reduce energy consumption by 50 per cent. In addition, and VRF air conditioning technology contributes to saving 35 per cent as compared to the conventional AC system.

The station also has 36 fully integrated digital wall displays on forecourt columns and ZOOM convenience store entrance, customers receive information on latest offers and promotions offered at ENOC service stations and ZOOM, Pronto and Starbucks outlets. Customers will be able to receive live news, weather and traffic updates from Dubai Police and RTA.

The community in Al Barsha will also benefit from other provisions like a drive-thru ATM and other retail facilities at the station including Starbucks, Pronto and ZOOM, convenience store where they can pay DEWA and credit-card bills, Salik top-ups, etc.

ENOC had previously announced that all future service stations will be powered by solar energy to support the UAE’s long-term strategy to target an energy mix that combines renewable, nuclear and clean energy sources. ENOC estimates more than 23 GWh of solar energy will be generated to power the new stations by 2020, minimising the load on DEWA’s grid and power generating stations.
